Ode to Trees

I think you all know by now how much I love taking pictures of trees, dead or alive. I took a lot of tree photographs again last week, and when I browsed through them now, this one jumped out at me. It was a weird day, weather wise. Very cloudy without being cold, windy without being unpleasant, dark clouds all over, but sun shining from somewhere to light up random areas. As I was driving down the fence between us and the neighbour’s farm, the way the sun lit up the area in front of the tree, with the dark clouds behind, just seemed to beg for a photograph.

This picture stands on our neighbour’s farm, but pic taken from our farm.

“I hear the wind among the trees

Playing the celestial symphonies;

I see the branches downward bent,

Like keys of some great instrument.”
~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I hope you all have a blessed, peaceful Sunday! 🙂

About zelmare

In a nutshell: I'm a woman of 'a certain age', I recently moved after living in the same area for 27 years, i raised 3 absolutely fabulous kids (I'm sure you will hear a lot about them, since I am a very proud mama), got divorced, and in due course, met and fell in love with the most amazing man, and i moved to a small town called Nylstroom. A lot of my blogs will most probably be about my new life, my family and friends, and my interests, which are taking pictures, travelling, food, re-decorating, music and books. I am looking forward to meeting a lot of lovely new friends and interesting people! :)

  1. I love it when a scene begs to be photographed, and I believe I would have stopped to do so as well. Great tree, I love the sky.

  2. Wow – this is a great photo!!! I love the tad of overexposure – works sooooo well in this photo!! Great job!! 🙂 **

    • I’m not too sure about over exposure, poppet. Used my old Samsung here, and had in on Auto. The light was weird, like it was the end of the world… But whatever, I think it is something different. Mwah! 🙂

  3. Well worth photographing – very brooding 🙂

  4. This is a great photo.
